John Price is the president and co-founder of Karlville Development, which consists of several companies and partnerships.  John graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics, and held several positions in sales and marketing, before starting Karlville with his long-time partner and fellow UPENN graduate, Raul Matos back in 1996. Since the company’s inception, Karlville has sold more than 3500 machines in 86 countries with a focus on the shrink sleeve converting, pouch and flexible packaging machine business. 

After getting the US converting machinery business established, John moved to France and spearheaded the acquisition and merger of two French packaging machinery companies to form Karlville France in 2006 and 2008. As a next step in the evolution of business, John spent 2015 and 2016 focused on the establishment of a global machinery partnership with HP Indigo for machinery solutions to produce digitally printed flexible packaging, which was launched in 2016 at DRUPA.  This partnership has continued to expand and now includes digital pouch factories featuring Karlville machinery solutions for laminating, slitting and pouch converting in HP Indigo’s Atlanta & Barcelona Experience Centers.

Growing within its companies' roots in flexible packaging, Karlville Swiss was formed in 2017 to fabricate quick change pouch converting machines with a seasoned pouch team. John spent the next years supporting the rapid expansion of KV Swiss business, and most recently finalizing the sale of this business in November 2022 to Ambienta’s platform company, In.Pack Machinery, to become part of the largest bag converting machinery fabricator in the world. Now, John is working on establishing the InPack business in the Americas for the new venture, building new pre-made pouch filling machinery business in France and managing existing machinery business.

John lives in California and enjoys biking and hiking in his spare time.
