Labelexpo Europe 2019 Show Feedback

Exhibitors

Jakob Landberg, sales & marketing director, Nilpeter A/S: “We had a great show in Brussels - many existing projects were finalized, and several new ones picked up for our recently introduced products. The show was well attended by serious visitors, with serious plans, for serious investments. It was great to see that our industry - despite challenging times - is very optimistic and proactive.”

Matthias Marx, head of marketing, Gallus Ferd. Ruesch AG: “All in all, Labelexpo Europe 2019 was very successful for Gallus. We closed a lot of deals but also the positive feedback our customers gave us to the large number of innovations we presented, concerning our products and services, proves that Gallus is on the right track. With these new products and services, we are well prepared for the digital future.”

Filip Weymans, vice president digital marketing solutions, Xeikon: “Labelexpo Europe has proven again to be the center of gravity in the label industry when it comes to innovation, spotting new trends, transforming a label business. The dynamic and energy level we experience at the Brussels show cannot be compared with any other show in the graphic industry and we exhibit at plenty. At the same time, the show has helped in closing a number of deals on both flexo plate imagers and digital, which makes our investment more than worthwhile.”

Matteo Cardinotti, managing director, BOBST Firenze: “At BOBST we had high hopes for Labelexpo 2019 and it didn’t disappoint! Machines sales exceeded the expectations and just as pleasing was the onsite reaction to the innovations we had on show – such as the MASTER DM5, our first-of-its-kind hybrid label press; Ink-on-Demand, our ground-breaking inking technology; and DigiColor, which revolutionizes flexo printing into a fully digitized process. It was exciting to be able to demonstrate such innovations first hand. Thank you to the organizers and to everyone who came to talk with us at the BOBST stand – what an incredible event!”

Paolo Grasso, head of sales, Printing Division, OMET: "The all-day-long crown at OMET booth proved the interest behind the innovative leading company. It’s been again the best Labelexpo ever for OMET and we’re glad to the organisers, the visitors and to the entire team @OMET for this result. A couple of world-premiere new presses were exhibited. For the first time the all-new X7 for High Value shrink sleeves with a rotogravure unit running on water based inks. And the renewed XJET hybrid press for the first time to the market in a 420mm full width also printing on shrink sleeves. Many orders were booked at the show and a lot to come till the next one, leaves us with the impression that this industry is not at all tired but aiming high to new and continuous innovations. For which OMET is there to serve since 1963."

Roland Stasiczek, product line manager, Digital Label Printing, Canon: “Canon’s premier at Labelexpo Europe was a major success! Our new UV inkjet press, the Océ LabelStream 4000 series showcased in a fully integrated hybrid configuration, created tremendous interest. Our appearance underlined our commitment and ambition in the label sector. We received great feedback on our overall presence and many ongoing projects got an extra kick. Overall it was a great start: we could meet our internal targets and we felt very welcome in the label community.”

Edoardo Cotichini, team manager industrial printing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe: “Labelexpo was an outstanding success and we had incredible interest from visitors to our stand. We doubled the number of leads we achieved in 2017 and announced 11 more customer sales at the show. It’s been an extremely rewarding journey since we shipped our first machine in 2016. We have grown to become number 2 in the market, according to InfoSource figures, and our accelerated growth shows no sign of slowing.

“These latest sales are yet again prime examples of how companies are increasingly turning to our world-class technology for label printing.

“There is a seismic change in the industry towards shorter runs and just in time production where label printers and converters need the highest quality printing which is provided on our AccurioLabel 230 digital label press. Our dedicated market approach is working. We are here for the journey. It’s not the start any more and we are on an upward growth path.”

“Several commentators at the show mentioned that we have really hit a sweet spot with our technology and offering to the market. But it’s no longer just about quality, that’s a given. We approach things relation-oriented and co-create with our customers, as already the development of our AccurioPress technology showed where we listened closely to our customers and improved the machine according to their feedback. We are rethinking together with our customers what is possible in label printing.”

Matt Burton, sales director, ABG: “Labelexpo Europe is always an exciting part of the calendar for ABG and this year did not disappoint. It was our biggest ever show, and the ABG team were on fantastic form. Labelexpo for us is a time to demonstrate the innovations we’ve been working hard on, as well as re-connect with customers old and new, as we know the majority of our customer base will all be attending.

“We were particularly pleased with the interest garnered by our latest machine – the Digilase 4.0 our new laser which has improved workflow, minimal waste and improved laser accuracy, as well as the enthusiasm over our high spec beverage Digicon series  - the new fast flatbed screen printing module, Big Foot 50 tonne flatbed hot foil unit, and its little sister, the 25 tonne flatbed hot foil unit with a new swivel head allowing foil to be fed both along and across the web like the Big Foot. As with all of our machines, we focus on improved workflow, reduced waste and providing our customers with market-leading finishing equipment.”

Atze Bosma, CEO, MPS: “We are extremely pleased with this incredible number of press sales (12), that broke the old record again. We have sold various flexo, hybrid and packaging presses in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Our message ‘Beyond the Machine’ showed how at MPS, we do not focus only on our high quality machinery, but also on four key processes Beyond the Machine: Service, Connectivity, Applications and Productivity. We also see a growing interest in hybrid printing technology, and with the introduction of the wider 17” hybrid EF SYMJET press we are now able to offer a true hybrid solution with even higher productivity to our customers.”

Jules Lejeune, managing director, FINAT: “For FINAT, the 2019 edition of Labelexpo Europe was a special edition. Not because with FINAT’s 60th and Labelexpo’s 40th anniversary we had a virtual centennial as partners, but more so because with our successful conclusion of the first edition of the #LABELicious competition for students and young professionals, as well as the relaunch of our Young Professionals Network we were celebrating the FUTURE of this dynamic industry. As hosts of the L9 meeting we proudly welcomed the global label association community to the world’s largest trade show ever.

“Our UV FoodSafe Group initiative got quite a bit of interest both at the Flexpack arena and on our own stand where consortium leaders gave an interim update on our way to the final outcome to presented at the FINAT Technical Seminar in Barcelona next March. Where the world is presently characterized by an uncertain mood based political, environmental and economic concerns, the vibrant atmosphere at the show gave reason for optimism about the labels and narrow web packaging industry’s underlying fundamentals going forward.”

Philip Easton, director, Domino Digital Printing Solutions: “We were delighted with the results from Labelexpo Europe 2019, with even more visitors to our booth and more interest shown in our products than two years ago. Despite a significant increase in our stand space this year, there were times when our booth was so packed with people, that there was nowhere to sit and you had to walk around the booth to get to the other side of it! This is easily the most important show for our Digital Printing Solutions business.”

Morten Toksværd, director global sales & marketing, Grafisk Maskinfabrik (GM): “Labelexpo Europe 2019 has once again shown how important it is for the label industry. The possibility of presenting the latest generation of finishing and embellishing solutions, as well as direct interaction with clients and our partners, brought immeasurable benefits to all parties. During the trade show, we signed a dozen number of contracts, some of which were from walk-in clients and acquired a lot of leads. We successfully sold all the latest GM machines shown at our stand: DC350, 330FB, DC330MINIflex, DC330MINI and SR350. Labelexpo has been a huge success for us. We are extremely happy that our customers and partners have great confidence in our solutions and new products.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for visiting our stand and our partners for their huge involvement in this amazing event.”

Helmuth Munter, segment manager Labels & Package Printing, Durst Group: "We at Durst look back at an exceptional Labelexpo Europe 2019. Our Tau RSC Platform has created huge interest for an overwhelming amount of visitors at our booth in Hall 9. The event was a great opportunity to network with existing Durst clients as well as with many new potential clients and share with them our latest product innovations. Among a good number of directly signed orders during the show, we are looking forward very optimistic to a good business development during the coming months. Overall, a very positive show event for Durst.”

Melanie Ott, business manager Tapes and Labels, H.B. Fuller: “Labelexpo Europe 2019 was again a very busy show for H.B. Fuller and an excellent networking experience. The feedback we're still receiving is above our expectations and this year’s edition was particularly good in a couple of areas. It was great to meet our customers specially the ones we don’t get to meet with very often, such as key global contacts based outside of Europe.

“Also, the exhibition is a great venue to effectively engage with new business contacts, this year was no exception. We’re now excited to get to know better the many attendees who came to find us to discover how our adhesives can help improve their products. See you all in 2021!”

Andy Beesley, business director EMEAR, MacDermid Graphics Solutions: “Labelexpo Europe never fails to meet my expectations. The turnout appeared high judging by the tremendous activity at the MacDermid Graphics Solutions booth throughout the show. We were overwhelmed by the amount of current and new potential clients that spared the time to drop by and learn more about our offerings.

“The show for us culminated in a large number of confirmed supply agreements as well as orders for MacDermid LAVA® Thermal equipment, including an order at the show from Telrol for a LAVA NW-M. Customers commented on the wide array of print that could be viewed at our booth and at our partners’ booths printed with the MacDermid plate portfolio of solvent, thermal, UVA and LED, as well as the broadest range of screening technologies further highlighting the versatility of our products. We look forward to the next Labelexpo with excitement.”

Juan Kim, CEO Valloy Incorporation: “This Labelexpo 2019 was better than ever for Valloy Incorporation. We enjoyed well located booth, eye-catching events and professionally organized system, except for bad weather. No other trade show offers us the exposure to the market that we service and provide solutions for.”

Ettore Colico, converting director, SEI Laser: “Labelexpo 2019 edition has been the definitive consecration of the digital business model, now indispensable in all labeling and packaging segments. It is no longer a matter of the well-known special effects but of confidence and respect for a digital technology that has now reached full maturity. Jumbo rolls, automatic motorized knives and “wide web” have been the key points of the SEI Laser stand in Brussels. We presented two configurations of the "Best in Class" laser solution for labels: Labelmaster in 350 - equipped with 4 laser heads to reach a constant speed of over 100 m/min - and 600 mm web configurations. Both solutions have been very appreciated because nowadays the laser is a cutting-edge technology ready to satisfy even the most demanding requests from this sector.

“In the end, we can for sure declare that we are very satisfied with our participation, which we renew from year to year. We consider Labelexpo a point of reference for the label market and we are never contradicted: this year too, thanks to the many innovations we introduced, we welcomed many visitors interested in our laser solutions.”

Revealing UniNet’s technologies included the iColor® 200 short-run tabletop digital ink-based label printer, and the iColor® LF 200 digital label finisher featuring standard format generated massive interest amongst label printers.

“UniNet also displayed their flagship iColor® 700 and 900 Toner-Based Label Digital Presses and the Specialty Toner Kits, in particular, their FluoToner capable of transforming a label production into bold, vibrant and energetic output with just easily swapping from standard cartridges to Fluorescent CMY Colors.

The interest of (inter-)national customers for the digitalization of their processes is still going strong. Additionally, the demand for new interfaces to simplify collaboration between machines, customers, suppliers and other software is rising to get closer to a fully digitalized production process. Our highlight this year was our recently developed dashboards which allow companies to distribute information easily to their departments and employees. The dashboards can be shown on displays in the different branches or socializing rooms as well as on mobile phones and computers. This results in a better information policy, and the interest in this autonomously usable development was high with every visitor to our booth.

“All in all we are looking back to four eventful and exciting days that gave us a lot of new impressions and ideas where the labeling industry is going to in the future.”

By exhibiting with Resino Trykfarver we were also able to launch our joint venture of offering customers a complete package in terms of ink and press technology complimented by a combined after-sales customer service. This show was efficient for short term business and promising for the near future!”

Diego Di Muro, founder, www.flexo24.com: “Labelexpo Europe 2019 has been an extraordinary opportunity to meet the entire production chain. We are delighted that so many companies have visited us for our totally online flexographic service, the first in the industry, confirming the great opportunities for growth in the market."

James Barnes, sales & marketing, Focus Label Machinery: “Labelexpo Europe 2019 was a great success for Focus with four very busy days maintaining the position as possibly the most important show for us. Mikko Talonen, converting business manager, Automation Business Line, Valmet: “Valmet successfully participated to LabelExpo Europe 2019 and is proud to be among the three finalists in Category of Environmental and Sustainability in the Label Industry Global Awards 2019 with its Valmet IQ Moisturizer. The jury stating that ValmetIQ Moisturizer is ” of long-term benefit to the label industry” is a great recognition of this unique solution that makes the management of the quality of self-adhesive label stock easier and more efficient than ever. We also had the opportunity to introduce our latest Virtual and Mixed reality solutions to many visitors. So our participation was very positive for us.”

Mark Laurence, sales manager, Daco Solutions: “The early signs from the exhibition are great, having already received orders from the exhibition. Our new Daco DF250SRD was well received and Labelexpo is a great showcase to launch a new product, and we have already booked for 2021.”

Ilaria Fenino, sales manager, LABELTECH : “It was a pleasure for us to participate in the 40th anniversary edition of Labelexpo Europe 2019. This was our 5th participation at Labelexpo, it is for us really rewarding to see the constantly growing interest during the years in our company and especially in the customized solutions that we offer.  We were so impressed by the number of visitors and the great enthusiasm shown for our products. We would like to thank all our visitors for taking their time to visit our booth, we enjoyed many inspiring conversations and are pleased about the positive response.”

Konstantinos Spyropoulos, global sales and business development director, bel: “Labelexpo Europe was quite productive for us, generating over 150 leads and finalizing 5 deals as a result of bel’s continued growth and increasingly awareness across the globe. There were visitors from all parts of the world! During the event, we showcased industry’s renowned overprint MIS with enriched functionality and industry coverage (roll labels, in-mould labels and packaging printing), while increased interest was shown in the new business analytics platform and sophisticated automated shop floor data collection system. We feel that Labelexpo is an excellent platform to network, showcase one’s capabilities and also learn from other industry players on the new technologies being commercialized.”

Soichiro Fujinaga, technical manager, Lintec Europe: “As a manufacturer of high performance labelstocks, Labelexpo Europe has long been one of the key trade events for Lintec, so we were delighted to be exhibiting once again this year. We are continuously investing in ongoing research and development in order to grow our already expansive customer base, so having a presence at the show allowed us to cement our position as a key player within the label market. We were pleased to welcome a wide variety of visitors to our stand, where we could demonstrate our array of solutions and how they have been designed to suit the specific needs of customers across a range of industries. All in all, it’s been a very positive show for Lintec.”

Olivier Goualard, president, Recyl: “The show was fantastic – with three machines on display, we had a complete maintenance package of Anilox, parts and plate cleaning solutions for flexo printers. It’s also fantastic to see how clients and partners globally value our products and were happy to participate in our thirtieth anniversary celebrations.”

Nathan Daniel, EMEA sales manager, Afinia Label: “Labelexpo Europe 2019 was by far the best show for Afinia Label after many years of exhibiting in Brussels. This year’s visitors were already well educated regarding the benefits of owning their own digital labelling equipment and were ready to buy. The show provided us with an excellent platform to showcase our current range and forthcoming additions including our small footprint, complete Flexible Packaging System.”

Paul Shawcross, international sales manager, Railex: “With enquiries from 63 countries, we have found this exhibition to be extremely good for us. Brussels clearly attracts visitors worldwide and this has given us the opportunity to build new business relationships whilst reconnecting with our existing business partners. Now the work really starts with turning our enquiries into orders!”

Niels Nielsen, commercial director, Resino Printing Inks: “We want to thank the visitors for their interest in our products, you made the exhibition a good experience.

“Resino attended the Labelexpo Europe in collaboration with KPG Europe. KPG Europe designs and builds specialist printing presses for many industries. Presses which are installed throughout the world.”

Jo Andersen, marketing & sales director, KPG Europe: “The most important reason, is probably that potential clients are presented with one complete solution, covering ink and press technology to meet their specific requirements.”

Rinze van der Vinne, international sales director, Bandall: “Bandall is looking back at a very successful LabelExpo show. Surprisingly, much attention went to our advanced fully automatic bundling solution for In-mould labels. We even sold some label bundle projects directly at the show. Besides this, we are very satisfied with the many new leads all over the world and we therefore are already looking forward to the coming results out of the follow-up.”

Jochen Wahl, general manager, GSB Wahl GmbH: “For GSB Wahl GmbH the show was a good platform to show the whole product range from GSB. Especially the new developed waterless low migration UV-Serie 172, which was showed at the waterless printing machine Aniflo 420 at company Codimag.”

Katherine Lee, director of global sales, Primera Technology, Inc: “The event is a great opportunity for us to meet with our world-wide partners in one, central location.  Even though it’s in Europe, we get just as many leads from other parts of the world, like Latin America, North America and Asia.  Additionally, it allows us to find new opportunities, both from the vast group of exhibitors and attendees at the show.”

Ole Agergaard, CEO, Agergaard Graphic Supplies GmbH/AkeBoose GmbH: “Labelexpo Europe has once again proven to be a very relevant show for us. The interest in AkeBoose’s chamber doctor blade systems and Agergaards doctor blades and end seals has been considerably high. Visitors from around the globe have come to our booth to inform about how we can support them with our product solutions. We look forward to building new international cooperations.”

Dieter Stirner, sales director, Hönle: “We have noticed an increased demand for inert UV systems. We have a wealth of experience within this field and have equipped many coating machines worldwide. Inert UV systems are often applied for curing release silicone coatings on liners and for other applications with temperature-sensitive substrates. They are also used for packaging applications where low migration and smell reduction is an issue. We are very pleased with the new inputs and contacts we got at Labelexpo and look forward to interesting projects which might arise from them.”
