Bruno Vitali, director at GIC (pictured), tells us how the company has evolved, as they prepare to mark 25 years in the labels business, and over a decade exhibiting at Labelexpo Europe.

Happy silver jubilee GIC! Tell us more about your milestone.
This year, GIC celebrates its twenty fifth anniversary. The company has been able to move forward and make its way in the sector all these years, as primarily a solutions designer. Thanks to a team of real enthusiasts, we at GIC do everything we can to meet the expectations of our customers, and this is certainly the company’s main strength. We also distribute solutions manufactured by companies outside France, which confirms a certain recognition of our know-how and the trust that many partners and customers place in us.

How has the industry changed in that time and how has GIC responded to that?
It is true that in 25 years, our market has evolved, not to mention completely transformed. Whatever the type of adhesive packing, film, packaging, products are increasingly sophisticated and technical. GIC has been able to cope with this metamorphosis, with significant investments in R&D, to offer real technological solutions to our customers.

What are you showcasing at Labelexpo Europe 2019?
This year, we present a new and innovative finishing solution with our TAGINNOV range. Visitors will be able to discover the TAGINNOV 350, designed for the production of encapsulated RFID tags in various complexes, whether in the field of adhesive or also in the field of packaging and textiles.

To complete the range, we offer the TAGINNOV SPEED ETIQ version, which will be previewed at the show, and dedicated to RFID insertion for pre-cut labels.

We will also exhibit our established and award-winning DYXEE CUT 350L for finishing and embellishment, equipped for the occasion with a flexography printing process, cold foil stamping and die-cutting.

Have you exhibited at Labelexpo Europe before?
We have exhibited at Labelexpo Europe for more than 10 years.

What does this event mean for your company and what role has it played in the label and packaging printing industry?
This global event is a meeting place that everyone looks forward to, and brings together the greatest number of visitors of any show. It is an unmissable event for professionals, and as active participants in this sector, we must take part. For us, this show serves not only as a meeting place with our customers, but it is also the place to meet new prospects. It allows us to see all the latest innovations on the market, and to meet our partners. We are improving our worldwide brand awareness with Labelexpo and this allows us to get new projects.

What are the main trends that may have an impact on the sector in 2019 and how do you think the sector will change over the next few years?
The label market is changing, something that is fueled by consumer behaviors and brands that are starting to reduce the amount of packaging to improve their environmental footprint.

We must prepare for this new trend and make packaging and labels more functional with real added value. In an era of artificial intelligence, these different substrates will have to be accompanied by a certain intelligence, whether through printing, embellishment or printed electronics. As a manufacturer, we need to prepare ourselves for these new needs of the market.

What message do you have for visitors to the 40th anniversary edition of Labelexpo Europe 2019?
We are waiting for you on our stand, so come and discover our latest innovations.
