FFEI launches Printbar Uncovered at Labelexpo Europe

FFEI (stand 9C18) will be launching Printbar Uncovered at Labelexpo Europe 2017. Printbar Uncovered enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of specialist labels and packaging systems, to respond to the growing need for digital embellishment. FFEI claims that with its inkjet integration expertise and proven inkjet technology, powered by Xaar, Printbar Uncovered presents OEMs with a unique opportunity as they can specify and take to market a unique digital embellishment solution that provides a competitive edge to their customers, embodies their brand values and complements their existing portfolio.
Printbar Uncovered utilizes Xaar printheads and Nazdar approved UV inkjet inks and can be mounted on a range of web-fed presses and finishing solutions - new configurations or retrofitted onto existing installations. OEMs are able to tailor the covers and color scheme, user interface, workflow, service & support packages and printhead configuration (for speed, laydown, web-width and fluid type).
A wide variety value adding embellishments are possible - spot varnish, cold foiling, rotary screen white replacement, variable data labels and haptic (high-build and texture) effects. All can boost the profit margins on short run label and packaging jobs.
‘Out-of-the-box’ Printbar Uncovered technology can handle a wide range of inks and fluids, including spot colors (K or CMY), protective lacquers, high-build spot and tactile varnish, heavily pigmented high-opacity over- and under- whites and cold foil adhesives. OEMs can specify if they require a single or double laydown of a chosen ink or fluid, depending on the target application, for example a double hit high opacity white for rotary screen replacement.
A range of third party digital front ends (DFE) are supported, including FFEI’s ready-to-use workflow solution, designed for the production of labels and packaging. Alternatively, OEMs can integrate with the DFE on their own equipment as a way to enhance the operator experience.
A wide range of substrates are supported from 40µm to up to 250µm. Print widths of 140 mm (5 inches) to 560 mm (22 inches) are supported with print speeds of up to 75 m/min (246 feet/min) achievable.
